We woke up on June 8th, packed the car, and headed to Mystic, CT to document the one of the sweetest couples we’ve ever met for their beautiful Connecticut seaside wedding! Brianna and Garrett were not only our clients, but they became our friends. Kevin and Garrett bonded over their love and want for a custom truck, Jeep, or Subaru perfectly equipped for family camping. While Brianna and I just clicked and we could chat about everything and anything for hours. Brianna has a little boy, Jay, who is sweet, kind, and the best dancer in the Mystic area!
Brianna and Garrett have known each other almost their whole lives and while they didn’t know they were meant to be together, their family did. An Aunt set them up and that was it. They balance each other out, support one another immensely. Garrett stepped into the father figure role with ease. Jay completely adores him and their bond is really special. The day of the wedding, Jay and Garrett took a minute together and shared a cookie before leaving the hotel to head to the venue.
During our final meeting, we walked the streets of Downtown Mystic to find the perfect First Look location. While getting ice-cream at Mystic Drawbridge Ice Cream (which was our second visit there together…but not the last. We got ice-cream during their engagement session too) we decided on the historical, iconic drawbridge.
The day had come and the excitement was high as I walked with Brianna towards the bridge to see her handsome man for the first time. The stood back to back for a minute, to build the anticipation more, and the second they turned around Brianna melted into him. She cried, I cried….it was unbelievably emotional. They have waited for this day for so long and they were finally getting to tie the knot!
We roamed Downtown Mystic talking portraits and eating ice cream (yes, we got ice-cream at Mystic Drawbridge Ice Cream) before we headed to Mystic Yachting Center. It was there that Garrett’s dad married the two. There were more tears and lots of smiles and laughter! Friends and family enjoyed the view of the docks from the porch during cocktail hour while we sneaked on to another dock to snap a few more portraits with the golden sun behind them.
The day was incredible, I was so happy for the two of them and listening to their loved ones talk about them just warmed my soul. They danced until their feet hurt and before we left, instead of cutting a wedding cake….they made an ice-cream sundae to feed one another (can you tell ice-cream is a staple in their lives? 🙂
